New Year and More

So, the time has come, December 31st, last day of the year 2010, now, depending on your timezone you may already be at a party, or you may already be sleeping after said party 😛 But right now I still have a couple of hours more of this day so let me post this:

This year was interesting, although it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be (and I know I’m not the only one that thinks this way) it provided me with many cool experiences, in January I joined the community over at, it was an interesting experience,  to be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, but I’m glad to say I was wrong, many helpful dudes there, and it’s been fun, of course, everyone that has been a part of that community know of the problems this year presented at that site, but that’s another story 😛

This year saw the birth of my twitter account, which was created to participate in a contest (I didn’t win anything in case you were interested :P) and I thought I would abandon it after said contest, but now it’s one of my primary tools of communication with the outside world 😛 There I’ve met a lot of individuals who have been helpful, people who I may never meet outside of online interactions but that have left a deep impression on me. I hope this doesn’t change soon dudes! (Well, except for that never meeting you but who knows :P) \m/

I created a Steam account, participated in a very cool forum and more, and also, I was finally encouraged to create this place, an idea that has been in my mind for a long time, I know the content has been lacking, both in quantity and quality, so I’m sorry for that, it’s something I hope to change, I promise.

On a bigger scale, many musicians from the metal world dies this year, leaving empty thrones that will stay like that forever since no one will be able to replace them, but everyone that once listened to their music has that, their legacy, their message, their metal! \m/ Some interesting stuff happened in the world of politics too, but I don’t feel like turning my brain to 11 just to post about them right now 😛

So yeah, by know I’ve written and deleted a bunch of extra paragraphs because they didn’t fir the spirit of this post I think 😛 So I will conclude saying that:

May next year be full of metal, joy, and whatever else you guys want! Have fun at your New Years Eve parties of sleep well if that’s what you’re doing! 😛

P.S. I realize there’s only a Pt.1 of a certain story, I’ll try to post the rest later today! \m/ 😛

P.P.S. I also realize the amount of smilies in this post, but I won’t change that since it’s a closer reflection of how I write normally, and it’s fun too!

Diary Part One

Professor Daniel Henderson was a good friend of mine, we met four years ago, during one of my conferences on psychology and how social media affected society.  After the conference, he approached me and commented on my work, criticizing certain aspects of it, but overall, he had liked it. Later that day I received an invitation from him to join him in a small bar close to the hotel I was staying in.

We talked about many things, until, at a certain point, one of us (alcohol won’t let me remember who it was) mentioned certain studies on the psychology of the occult, it was then that we realized we share an interest in such a topic. We continued talking about it for hours, until we had to move to my hotel room because the bar was closing. He talked about how, besides the many psychological studies on the subject, he was attracted to the works of H.P. Lovecraft and other similar authors thanks to the techniques they used in their stories. I replied that I was also a fan of his works however I preferred authors like Stephen King, though he didn’t seem to pay attention to this.

The next morning we went our separate ways, he returned to his work and I resumed my search for work (I had been notified of the fact that I had been fired of my previous job before I parted gave that conference) , maybe a local university would accept me. We remained in touch with each other via e-mails in which we discussed about our work and more. He told me about how, one of his friends, and archeologist, had made some interesting discoveries in some ruins located in the Greek countryside, after that his e-mails stopped for a while, but since I was very busy with my newfound job (I had been accepted at a local university, as a teacher)  I didn’t pay much attention to it.

Until, a couple of months later I received a new message from him, it said something about how, not everything we deem fake is such, how, even stuff that we know is fiction may sometimes, be far more real than what we can imagine. While I was surprised at such a message, it didn’t take long before my mind went back to work related things, so I didn’t reply to his message.

The next day received another message, this one mentioned some things about a story called “The Hounds of Tindalos”, the name seemed familiar so I decided to search for it online, turns out, I had it, it was hidden inside one of my Lovecraft anthologies, out of curiosity, and to try and understand what was my friend talking about I decided to read it.

After I finished it I ran to my PC and opened his last message,  I can’t describe how I felt at that moment, I was hoping that it was all a bad joke, his message mentioned that he had, with help from his archeologist friend and some other people, managed to find the dimension in which these things lived.  I messaged him countless times but I never got a reply, that night I couldn’t sleep.

Thankfully, I didn’t have to work the next day so I focused on trying to contact my friend, but before I could do so, he replied to one of the many e-mails I sent to him, I was relieved by what he said, explaining that it had been a mistake, he intended to save that as part of a work of fiction he was working on, but had instead placed it on an e-mail that was sent to me, he apologized for not responding to my attempts to contact him and he told me that because of his work and the fact that there had been a power outage in his area he wasn’t able to reply on time.

After that, for the next 3 or 4 weeks I got so absorbed by my work and other personal projects that I didn’t have contact with any of my friends, including the professor, and on my first free day in weeks I received a package that contained a small flash drive, and a handwritten diary, the all had the name Daniel Henderson on them.

I should probably be working on something now

So, I did mention that fact that I was lazy right? Well, it’s true, which is part of the reason I haven’t uploaded anything else yet, the other part is my inability to think of names for characters, locations, and more, that’s always been an obstacle for me, but I’m working on it.

I’m also working on another story, hopefully one better then the last one, which was admittedly not good, at least I don’t think so, but I was getting tired of having it unfinished and just decided to rush it, probably not a good idea. Next one is going to be either awesome, or so bad it’s good, or something along those lines, that is, if I can think of some names and a way to make the story progress in a better way.

So yeah, that’s it, I wanted to post this here, to update this place and prevent myself from forgetting about it. And also to update anyone who may be interested in this project.

First Contact

Sightings began in the last months of 2010, at first no one paid attention to them, dismissing reports as nothing but pranks or delusions of fans of conspiracy theories, but by December of that year, they gained the attention of everyone in the world, major news outlets began covering what was happening and people began paying attention to it, they couldn’t believe what was happening. At long last, the question of whether or not humans were alone in the universe was answered. All day, T.V. shows, radio stations and internet news sites were filled with pictures, and videos of the weird machines that hovered across most nations, government leaders met in secret to discuss possible actions depending on different scenarios, and while this happened those unknown things remained silent, floating,  until the first day of January 2011, when they all suddenly vanished leaving no trace of their presence, for a while this attracted the attention of everyone, public and private meetings were held to discuss the possible implications of such an event. But after some months, people forgot about it, but world leaders remained cautious, creating programs to use satellites and antennas to keep watch, but they had underestimated this threat.

By the time they noticed the anomaly it was already too late, when their sensors noticed something wrong in the vicinity of planet earth it became apparent that those things had returned. And this time it became apparent that their intentions where not to establish contact or to keep a silent watch over us.

Before the event, many people had been filing reports of strange creatures spotted in the outskirts of rural towns and small cities, again, these were dismissed by the general public and media, mainly due to the similarities between the reports of these creatures and “reports” of “big foot”. These things were described as humanoid in appearance, with longer than normal arms and at least 7’ high, with a skin that resembled copper.

With time, reports became more frequent, and they were no longer limited to small towns, now, people from major cities, Ney York, Paris, London, Tokyo, and others were also reporting sightings. When they finally revealed themselves it was in small groups, of no more than 4 of those things, they began with border towns, places far away from big cities, isolated communities that weren’t able to communicate what had happened to them. Survivors that managed to reach nearby cities warned of an oncoming terror, these creatures had begun their attack, armies around the word mobilized to protect as many cities as possible, and though the first battles ended in victory for humans (as menacing as these creatures looked, they were still vulnerable to human weapons), the tide soon turned and their numbers increased dramatically, it was as though they had been testing us so far, readying their forces for the main attack. For when their numbers increased, and their weapons became more powerful, human forces didn’t last long, overnight most of the soldiers deployed were killed, and the cities exterminated except for a few hundreds of survivors.

And then the attacks stopped, no one knew why, they just stopped, authorities used this opportunity to lead civilians into underground shelters built with the purpose of saving lives during a nuclear war, they nor sheltered those who had survived the horror that befell humanity. Not all were that lucky though, many people were left behind. And others were killed once the attacks resumed. Government leaders fled to their own shelters, and army forces took shelter in secret bases around the world.

For months humanity waited underground, waiting as one by one their shelters were found and destroyed, watching the video feeds from security cameras that showed these things move, like machines, killing everything, without showing any signs of purpose, they just moved, killed, and continued.

But the world wasn’t ready to be exterminated yet, over time, military and civilian forces organized scouting parties, that were able to retrieve pieces of alien technology, sometimes, they even returned with one or two alien corpses, scientists immediately began to study, both of these things, and with time they found out more about this enemy, they were tall, their legs allowed them to jump far more than any human could ever hope to. But they had weaknesses, they were vulnerable to standard human weaponry, not only firearms, but anything from a bat to a sledgehammer could be used to kill them, their strength lied in numbers, in the terror they inspired, and in the fact that they were ruthless and effective. Their speed was also above human average, but their size made it hard for them to realize fine movements. Humans decided to gamble everything in a strategy that may spell victory for them, but it could also result in failure and death to everyone.

They chose groups of gifted individuals, people whose athletic abilities had allowed them to escape safely, and trained them in the use of different firearms, they would take the fight to mankind’s enemies, they would take back the cities, and they would do so with the help of new technologies developed using what was recovered. This allowed for vehicles to move undetected by the enemy.

And so it was, mankind turned the tide of battle again, a few battles were won, and this proved that the new strategy worked. Over time, refugees moved back to the surface, where they built fortresses capable of repelling attacks. They used the knowledge they had gained about the alien’s physiology to build their new homes in a way that prevented free movement for those things, while allowing humans to easily escape and defend them.

Small resistance groups that had managed to stay hidden all this time now joined forces with the newly formed army, and now, mankind could once again live on the surface, combat continued for a long time, with no signs of it ever stopping, it had, apparently, reached a stalemate, with both sides now on a relative equal ground.

Reports came in, from resistance groups, about small towns where survivors lived that were under attack, and so humans mobilized their new “weapons” once again, when the first squad sent there arrived, they could see resistance members along with civilians being chased and killed by the creatures, one of the soldiers being transported in the new model of VTOL, designed for incursions in alien territory, couldn’t wait until they had reached the landing zone, he jumped down while they were flying above one of the houses that had been partially destroyed and began the assault by himself, he couldn’t wait anymore, he had to do something, he had to win.

And then the sound of an alarm began echoing in his head, at first distant, it became clearer every second, until he realized what was happening, he opened his eyes, looked to his clock and saw the time, he was now late for work, standing up he forgot about the dream he was part of, took a shower, got dressed, and then left, ready for the speech he would have to hear from his boss.

Introduction, explanation and more

So, here it is, finally got around to, at least, creating this site, here I’ll post short stories that I write, possibly some poems and other stuff if I feel like they would fit here. I’ll try to keep it updated as much as possible, but it may be hard sometimes, depending on how much I’m writing, and how much creativity I have then.

English is not may main language, but still, it’s the language I’ll use when posting here.

Any suggestions, comments or anything else are welcomed!

I’m currently working on what will be the first story I post here, so it might be up later today, or tomorrow.

Also, unless you happen to find the exact same thing someplace else, everything here was written by me (unless at some point people think they want to share some stuff in which case they will be properly credited). I’ll get around to adding copyright and possibly a CC license later, but for the most part, you can use whatever’s in here, just make sure to link here and credit me, thanks!

And that’s it, I’ve been thinking about this for a while, it’s been something I wanted to do since I began writing stuff, and as long as 1 person likes this I’ll be satisfied possibly for the rest of my life.
